Manitou Island Transit's Manitou Islands

Wildflowers!

Both North and South Manitou Islands are home to a rich community of plant life. Whether you take a guided tour with us or strike out on your own, you are sure to see a number of wildflowers like the tiger lily pictured below and the yellow lady slipper pictured right as well as other plants. One plant we would like to caution you about is Poison Ivy [Click here for photo]. Oils from the plant can cause a nasty rash -- keep your eyes open!

In addition to the many flowers, both islands are home to some impressive forests like The Valley of the Giants.
